Reading download samples
A short download gives a snapshot of transfer speed between your browser and this server. It is not a measurement of the maximum speed of your internet plan.
Why results vary
Other downloads, wireless signal strength, server load and the route between networks all affect a sample. A short transfer may finish before a fast connection reaches its steady speed.
Units matter
Megabits per second and megabytes per second are different units. Eight bits make one byte. Applications may also count protocol overhead differently, so their displayed rates need not match.
Use samples carefully
Pause other transfers for a comparison, then repeat with your normal workload. Continuous sampling uses data. Pause the monitor or close the tab when using a metered connection.
